Psalms 23

1. The lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4. Yea, though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thou staff they comfort me.
5. Thou Preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: though anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6. Surely goodness and and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

 Coal Miners Prayer

Lord, I pray you keep to me tonight
Tend to me as vintner to his vines
Fill me with your love and holy light
As I step below into the mine

I have seen the depths of blackened hell
Sucked the thick resemblance of its breath
Seen the world's scarred heart and lived to tell
Tasted smoke and soot and cheated death

Come to me tonight and be my guide
Make my heart as open as the sea
Hands as steady as the mountainside
Eyes as quick as eagles on the breeze

From Goshen down to Harlan spread your grace
Leave no man in Logan from your sight
If they fall, their families please embrace
Grant them strength by day and peace at night

If I die, permit me, Lord, to pass
Through heaven's gates and rest my weary head
To find myself of darkness free at last
And spend eternity where angels tread
